I am an environmental epidemiologist and my work focusses on uncovering the multifaceted health effects of sound and air quality in both outdoor and indoor environments around the world. My research interests also include developing and applying novel methods for measuring and modelling the spatial distribution of environmental pollutant exposures, as well as quantifying the disease burdens associated with these risk factors to inform policy and practice. I currently lead and/or support several research projects in the UK, Ghana, and Rwanda that involve modelling pollutant exposures and assessing the health impacts of transportation noise pollution and poor indoor air quality (particularly related to damp and mould, carbon monoxide, NO₂, and PM₂.₅). I also serve as a committee member of the UK Indoor Environments Group (UKIEG) and as a co-investigator on a new two-year EPSRC-funded micro network+ (AirHub Network) focused on PM₂.₅ air pollution in UK homes.
I have experience working in the public sector at the intersection of science and policy, having previously worked as an Environmental Public Health Scientist at the UK Health Security Agency in the Air Quality and Noise and Public Health teams, as well as with Health Canada in the Air Pollution Exposure Science section.
Prior to this, I completed my PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College London (2018–2022). As part of the Wellcome Trust-funded Pathways to Equitable Healthy Cities project, I co-led efforts to design and scale up noise and air pollution monitoring and modelling systems in Accra, Ghana. From 2015 to 2018, I completed my MSc in Epidemiology at McGill University, where I investigated the cardiovascular health impacts of household air pollution exposures and evaluated intervention effectiveness in rural Chinese villages in Sichuan. During this time, I also spent six months as an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin, where I conducted air pollution chemical analysis. From 2011 to 2015, while completing my BA in Geography at McGill University, I worked as a part-time Research Assistant with the Indigenous Health Adaptation to Climate Change project and the Geographic and Environmental Epidemiology Lab. In these roles, I conducted fieldwork and epidemiological research on climate-sensitive infectious diseases in Uganda.
